Holly was raised in Springfield, CO until the age of 12, when her family then moved to the Wiley-Lamar, CO area. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1988. Holly has had family in Burlington, CO since 1985, and split her high school and early college years between Lamar and Burlington, working her summers in Burlington at a grain elevator and a short time at Grace Manor as a certified nurse assistant. In 1993, Holly earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University. While in Ft. Collins, Holly found professional rewards in community correctional work, and in managing a specialized behavioral group home for developmentally disabled children and adults. As a result, Holly has been a Legal Guardian for a developmentally disabled woman for 16 years now. In 1994, Holly ventured to New York City. She obtained a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 1996. While in NYC, Holly worked throughout the City in community supported living facilities for mentally ill and chemically addicted adults. Additionally, she interned in a mental health clinic in Queens, providing therapy for deaf and hard of hearing children, adolescents, adults and families. Holly's last internship was with the nation's largest Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organization, serving in NYC's Family Court in the court room of the Honorable Judge Judith Scheindlin, now the famous Judge Judy. Holly returned to Colorado in 1996, beginning her post-masters career in Littleton at a residential and day treatment center for adolescent boys, where she gained expertise in conduct disorder, trauma, and in working with juveniles who have engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior and their families. Holly provided clinical services and was the Director of Day Treatment and Education Programs as well. In 2001, Holly joined Jefferson County Human Services in the Division of Children, Youth and Family Services. For the first three years, Holly conducted court-ordered assessments on juveniles involved in the delinquency system, followed by three years as a Caseworker Supervisor, she ended her time at Jefferson County as the Program Manager for Delinquency, Sex Abuse and Clinical Services. Holly also served two years as the co-chair for the Jefferson County Community Collaborative Program (HB1451), working extensively with community serving agencies, including but not limited to: school district, mental health, juvenile probation, family advocacy organization, youth corrections, SB'94, law enforcement, district attorney, court, and the local community center board. Holly has held her License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) since 1998 and is a Full Operating Treatment Level Provider for juveniles who have engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior since 2003. Holly and her husband Tom, and son Ty, recently moved home to Burlington, CO to be closer to family and return to their roots of small town country living. |
