I grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa near a town of 500 residents. My Midwestern roots and genetics allowed me to grow to 6' 10" tall and so basketball became a large part of my life, and, eventually led me to play and travel in 15 different countries around the world. My wife Julie of 31 years, and I have 4 children and 2 grandchildren, and reside in Monument, Colorado. My wife operates an embroidery company. Our children are ages 24,22,18, and 13.

I have been in the helping professions off and on since my first job at a rehab center in Iowa for emotionally and mentally disabled adults and adolescents. I directed the recreation and special Olympics programs for 250 clients.  I was an international basketball player and recruiter for 7 years with an organization that gave young college players an opportunity to compete and develop not only their athletic skills but also challenged them to grow and develop character and integrity in their personal lives through sports.

I obtained my master's in psychology in 1989 at Denver Seminary and completed a residency training program in family therapy from 1990 to 1993 in Seattle, WA.  I conducted numerous workshops and a private practice with families, individuals, and groups.  I worked extensively with sexual abuse victims including extensive work with dissociative/multiple personality disorders, religious addiction, spiritual abuse, along with basic individual, marriage and family therapy in Washington and Colorado.

I managed the case management department at Mountain Crest Hospital, did intake evaluations for ACTS, and worked at the Larimer County jail in mental health.  I have also spent time in developing a family business in the embroidery and sportswear business with my wife and have done sales and recruiting including executive search in the medical and mental health fields.

My position as Continuity of Care Coordinator at Centennial Mental Health is a continuation of my journey in the helping professions and I am looking forward to the challenge of helping to provide the best possible care to the rural and small town populations of the eastern plains of Colorado.
