I spent most of my life in Kansas. In the year 2000 I got adventurous and moved to California and resided there for 9 1/2 years. During my time in California I received my Associates Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, my Bachelors degree in Psychology, and my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. During my senior year of my Bachelors degree I had an opportunity to intern at the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, CA. I worked with the male forensics population. While interning there I participated in and observed groups and worked one on one with inmates. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience and knew that I wanted to become a therapist. While working on my Masters degree I completed my internship at Crittenton Services for Children and Families in Fullerton, CA. I worked with teenage girls in a level 12 residential group home. I conducted individual, family and group therapy. Groups that I conducted were Anger Management, Domestic Violence and Process groups. I absolutely loved working with this population and knew that I would love to continue working with this population throughout my career. After earning my masters degree I decided that I wanted to resign from the California lifestyle and move closer to my family. And although, I do miss the California weather, I am very happy to be residing in Colorado and am looking forward to the opportunities this state has to offer. |
