Strategies for Self Improvement and Change SSIC is a program of self-improvement and change for the person who has a past of criminal conduct together with alcohol and other drug use problems. This program is built on a cognitive-behavioral approach. This program is 52 weeks in length and has a comprehensive participant manual, which outlines the goal, objective and activities for each session. The SSIC program helps to stimulate changes in the client’s actions by changing how they think, what they believe, and how they feel. The 52-week program is broken out into three phases. Phase I is entitled "Challenge to Change" and is 18 sessions in length. Phase II is entitled, "Commitment to Change" and is 22 sessions in length. Phase III is "Taking Ownership of Change" and is approximately 12 sessions in length. Dr. Kenneth Wanberg and Dr. Harvey Milkman author the program. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division of the State of Colorado recommend the program. |
