  •  MA, Counseling, Adams State College, Alamosa Colorado, 2006

Areas of expertise include these populations: Children, Adolescents, Families, Adults, and the Elderly.

Treatment expertise includes:  Case Management, Individual, Family, Play, In-Home, and Family Preservation Therapy.

My name is Travis Corning, and I am a new therapist at the Morgan County location. I received my Masters degree in counseling from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, in 2006, and I currently hold an LPC license in Colorado, and an LPCC license in New Mexico. I have lived in Colorado most of my life, and consider myself a native, even though I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have been working as a therapist in Taos, New Mexico, for the past two years, at a small non-profit, youth and family based counseling agency. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of populations, including children, adolescents, families, and adults. Our referral sources typically included schools, (CYFD) New Mexico's version of D.S.S., the local juvenile justice and court systems, as well as self-referrals. The range of services provided included out-patient therapy on an individual, family, and couples basis, group therapy, including various school and support groups, parenting, and other, classes, such as the "Love and Logic" series, as well as some in-home type services.

It was always my intention to return to Colorado, once I had completed my supervision requirements, and had obtained my state licensure. My birth family all still reside in Colorado, including two sisters, a brother, and their families, as well as, both parents. Most all live in, or around, the Denver area. Shortened travel time, and increased proximity to family, have always been goals of mine, and part of my reason for wanting to return to the state, the other being it's obvious natural beauty, and myriad of available outdoor and recreational activities.

I prefer small towns to big cities, and enjoy the slower pace, and less stressful overall lifestyle they are typically able to provide. My hobbies and interests include reading, art, and music, as well as various outdoor and recreational pursuits, such as camping and fishing. I am new to the area, and I am still becoming acclimated to my surroundings, however, some aspects seem positively familiar to me, even though I've never lived here before. I am excited to be part of the Centennial family, and I am looking forward to meeting, and working with, all of its members.
