| As of December 27, 2000, Northeast/East Central catchment area has been re-designated as a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area. The designated area includes all parts of Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma counties. The basis for this decision is a resident civilian population of 97,823 persons served by 1.2 full-time-equivalent psychiatrists for a ratio of 81,519:1. This designation is the first step in qualifying certain staff for student loan repayment assistance. Both new and current staff may benefit from Centennial's shortage designation. Centennial may support the application of one doctor and one LCSW, LMFT, LPC, NP or one psychologist each year for each of the Center's ten sites. Staff may then apply for the federal funding. |
