Reports to: Staff Psychologist

Type: Exempt 

Position Summary: Responsible for conducting psychological and related evaluations center-wide. Coordinates assigned cases with Staff Psychologist. Provides clinical consultations to staff and community agencies regarding psychological assessment issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.  Provides psychological evaluations, to include psychometric assessments, when appropriate.

2.  Coordinates psychological services with staff psychiatrist(s) and other clinicians.

3.  Represents Center's psychological services to external community agencies.

4.  Maintains accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Center standards.

5.  Performs other job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

EDUCATION

Ph.D./Psy.D /Ed.D in psychology.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one year of postdoctoral practice (required for Colorado licensure).

COMPETENCIES

1.   Computer Competency: Computer literacy, to include basic skills in e-mail communication and word processing.

2.   Broad Clinical Knowledge Base: Demonstrated ability to formulate differential diagnoses using the DSM IV, to include familiarity with severe and persistently mental ill populations, children and families, and general adult consumers.  Knowledge base shall be evidenced by, but not limited to, oral and written material presented by the candidate, and shall include standards of practice across all DSM IV diagnostic categories.  

3.   Proficiency in Writing: Demonstrated ability to author written documentation, with special focus on written psychological evaluations which are concise, organized, and specific to referred questions.

4.   Verbal Presentation Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in spoken word, to include appropriateness of vocabulary, efficiency of delivery, and proper use of syntax and grammar.

5.   Ethics: Applied knowledge and understanding of relevant ethical considerations, including consumer confidentiality and APA standards of practice, as evidenced by accurate written and oral reviews of case studies that address related specific and general issues.

6.   Working Knowledge of Regulatory Agencies: Applied knowledge and understanding of relevant standards put forth by regulatory agencies and practice guidelines, to include Mental Health Services, Care And Treatment of the Mentally Ill, Alcohol And Drug Abuse Division, Child Welfare Regulations, and Medicaid and Medicare Guidelines.  Competency will be evidenced by accurate written and oral reviews of case-relevant standards and guidelines.

7.   Training: Demonstrated ability to design and conduct formal and informal training, through workshops and in-service formats, as well as supervision.  Competency will be evidenced by participant evaluation of goals, objectives, and training outcomes.

8.  Community Interface: Demonstrated ability to interface positively with local community agencies in the interest of consumer service.

 

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

Ability to serve wide range of consumers, including culturally diverse populations.  Knowledge of cultural issues that may have a bearing on service provision.  Ability to travel within the Center's service area or to other locations as needed.
