Dr. Hickman has been with Centennial Mental Health Center since August 2001 when she returned to Northeast Colorado to become the Staff Psychologist. Having grown up in Yuma, Colorado and received all her degrees at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, coming to work for Centennial MHC has brought her back to familiar landscapes. Her current role involves directing the delivery of psychological services within CMHC, including psychological evaluations, cognitive assessments, and family interactional assessments to assist other service providers and the courts in crucial decision making. Typically such assessments also involve close collaboration and case consultation with other agencies in Centennial’s 10-county region. Additionally, Liz supervises CMHC’s Early Childhood Specialist program and the Logan County Director. She also provides clinical supervision and clinical consultation to other CMHC staff, participates in staff development and training, and takes an occasional case to keep her thinking like a therapist. Community training has also been provided on topics relating to mental health and children in conjunction with other community agencies in our region. Dr. Hickman currently represents CMHC on the Northeast Behavioral Health Credentialing Committee, but has also been a member of the NBH Quality Improvement Committee and participated in development of the NBH Practice Guidelines.Prior professional years were spent mostly in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where Liz initially worked for a youth and family services program and later developed a private practice providing a broad range of psychological services to children and adults. Not to be cooped up in one office too long, Dr. Hickman’s practice included an active consultation component with schools, preschools, day care centers, developmental disability programs, substance abuse programs, social services, medical/hospital services, attorneys and the courts. She coordinated professional development programs and worked with organizations in team building, particularly using wilderness experiences as a metaphor for change. Dr. Hickman was also active in the Wyoming Psychological Association for many years, serving in most offices at one time or another and last providing leadership to their legislative advocacy efforts.Send email to Dr Hickman |
